blonde-y

I've never had blonde hair; unless you count the natural highlights brought out by the sun when I was young.  And even then the color was always more golden than blonde.  

I'm thinking about going for it.  I have a fantastic hair dresser who works miracles with my "big" hair; but we've only ever gone darker when color is involved.

Am I too old to try this?  Madonna am I not.  

I currently have a shoulder length bob with bangs.  I am using these photos for potential inspiration.

I'm having my first ever trunk show at Pillow Mint.  

I'm showing Serena & Lily's newest and best - and offering their crib bedding at the shop for the first time.  

The show is from 10 a.m. till Noon.

What should I serve for goodies?  Champagne?  mini-cupcakes? (I was thinking carrot cupcakes or lemon?)

I don't want to go all out crazy with the food, but I do need to have something to serve....

Any and all advice is welcome!

feeling empty?

This is not my fireplace.  In fact, my living room looks nothing like this.  Sigh.

When I get around to cleaning out my fireplace this spring, it will look more like the above.

I am always at a loss as to what to do with it.  I have tried leaving it totally empty, and leaving unburned logs in it.  Neither of those choices seem appealing to me this year.  Is there an alternative?

I certainly don't want this.

....or god forbid, this!

And while I'm at it -- have you seen this - A fireplace *DVD*?!  egads.

These Vogue covers span from 1926 to 1991.  Which one speaks the loudest to you?  I love them all! and have forever dreamed of one wall in my dressing room filled with framed vintage Vogue covers.  (That is to say when - and if - I ever have said dressing room....)

lavender for the wide-awake

Relaxed yet?

I received some sample lavender products today from Lil's Lavender.  These products, made in the Pacific Northwest, are divine.

According to Aromaworld4u.com, lavender oil has a "smoothing and calming effect on the nerves, relieving tension, depression, panic" and is quite effective in relieving sleep troubles.  It is also one of the few essential oils that can be used "neat on the skin" and is useful for treating sunburn, burns, and insect bites.

Never mind the healing properties, I love lavender for it's glorious fragrance and color.  I've heard tale of warm sunshine bringing a field of lavender to life.  I think I'll let my mind take me there right now......

I have always LOVED Calvin Klein.  I told my husband last week how a strange thing happens when I flip through magazines looking at designer gowns, etc.  When something *really* catches my eye and I read the fine print on who's design it is -- invariably it says Calvin Klein.  It is almost freaky how often this happens.  Now I just say to myself before checking - it's probably Calvin.  Here are some photos of his lusciousness.  Yum.

I have fond memories of my grandmother's roses.  They were on the side of the house that got sunlight, and every variety she grew popped with brilliant color against the white stucco.  She would cut the best candidates to put in a pitcher or vase on her dining room table.  I can't think of anything I'd rather do than close my eyes and deeply inhale that sweet, sweet scent.  And the involuntary sound on the exhale, "uuummmm......"
