cup of kindness

happy new year!
I must admit that I am extremely glad that 2009 is over.   For some reason getting through 2009 was like trying to eat spaghetti with a spoon.
On this eve of the new year, however, I am hopeful.
The years are flying by (can you believe it's been 10 years since we were ringing in 2000?!) much faster than I'd like.  My 'bucket list' is getting longer instead of shorter!
I typically do not make resolutions, but there are a few things I'd like to work on.....
In 2010 I resolve to:

ease up on myself
turn the music up louder
hug my 14 year old more - even when he pushes away
say yes more
walk the dog a little longer
give my husband more unsolicited massages

Whatever it was that held you back in 2009,
may this be the year you go for it.  Holla.

this year

Do you hang a wall calendar?
I do.  Without fail, I get a new calendar every year and hang it in the kitchen.  Since I've been married to John, we take turns picking the calendar.  Even though this was his year, I cheated and bought him (us) one for his birthday.

I love calendars because every month, it's like getting a tiny little surprise every time you flip the page.

And I love the fact that no matter your passion, hobby, or fetish, they have a calendar for it.

This is the calendar I got John for his office.  (Not a joke to him -- he loves it -- and our dog!)

And this is the calendar I got this year for the kitchen!   ;)
Tell me what you chose for 2010.

have you ever....

used  henna  on your hair?
If you have, you know of the hell I just subjected myself to.  If you haven't, well, you're lucky.  I can say with confidence that I will never do that again.  The good news is that it worked and I have nice, richly colored dark brown hair.  The bad news is that the smell is so horrible (even after rinsing and washing) that I am nauseous beyond belief.
Time for a nap.

It just keeps snowing....

i've got ya covered

When I was doing preliminary research for the shop, I fell in love with the images on the Denyse Schmidt website.  Her quilts are stunning works of art!
However, it was seeing (and feeling them!) in person that completely won me over.  These quilts are 100% cotton, the perfect "quilt" weight, and so soft.  Out of all the bedding in the store, it is one of these quilts that my son chose to have on his bed!  I don't blame him a bit.

for baby too!!

lullaby and goodnight

We know the holidays are *hectic* and we know that when sleep needs are met, everyone is in a better place.

Dreamland CD by Putumayo is a must-have; the gentle  music truly lulls babies -- and adults -- to sleep.

And to all a
good night......
