I smiled at the receptionist and thanked her for her time. I told her I would call to reschedule after I saw my doctor.
Since my doctor (whom I haven't seen in about two years) has her office right down the street from the dermatologist, I figured I'd go in to make the appointment instead of calling.
I walked in to the office and was struck by fraternity house the-day-after-smell of cigarette smoke!! And this wasn't the 'maybe it's coming from the guy sitting in the waiting room' smell, it was in the walls.
I am not a smoke-buster; really - I'm not one of those people at an outside cafe who asks the lady at the next table to put out her cigarette, but really, this just wasn't acceptable. I am now questioning the judgement of everyone who works there -- Those who do the hiring of doctor's office staff should NOT hire smokers. Yes, I am being completely judgmental, (and probably discriminatory and prejudice) but in this case I believe I have a right to be.
I will keep this last appointment (for Friday) to get my dermatology referral, but I will be switching doctors.
Am I overreacting? What do you all think?!

That's bizarre. Any doctor's office I've ever been to smells like antiseptic and sick.
