I don't want the movie to ruin the great memory I have of this book.

I probably shouldn't say this, but I will..... I couldn't make it through the book. I started feeling like the author needed to just get over herself. I don't know - after a while it just all seemed so self indulgent. On the other hand, I can't wait to see the movie! I love Julia, and the previews look so good! More than likely, those who loved the book will leave saying "I liked the book better" and I, the only person in America who didn't finish it, will love the movie, because I won't know any better! Oh well....we shall see!
ReplyDeleteWell, I agree with Hill Country House Girl... the book seemed so self-indulgent. I was intrigued, and yes I did finish it, but it went on much too long. On the other hand, I will def. go see the movie. I am almost always disappointed by movies, in general (!), so .....why not go?
ReplyDeleteWow- I too got like 3 chapters into the book and was all "NEXT!" Never finished it. I was so bored with her language lessons, etc. The movie looks good I guess but I'll prolly just Netflix it.

ReplyDeleteI purposely did not read the book, so I could enjoy the movie! It always seems to be the book that wins...and this time I want it to be the film! :)
ReplyDeleteI know I'm late to comment on this, but I loved this book. As soon as I heard that Julia was going to play the main character I thought it was a bad choice. She is definitely too perfect for the role :)
