Where Do I Start?

I think I'll start with a big, huge THANK YOU to Diana Johnson, owner of Fifth Wall Design Group (and my friend) who invited me to go to Market with her!

We had such a good time, I can't begin to tell you how many laughs we shared, how much we (figuratively) drooled at the gorgeous pieces, and how great it was to be with a fellow coffee obsessed traveler.
I lovingly call Diana a 'tweet freak' -- she loves her twitter!  (Follow her.)

Soooooo, what was it like?
Having been a Market-virgin, I learned many, many things in the 2 days I was there:

1.  Believe the people who tell you to wear comfortable shoes.  We walked for miles.  (Although I felt completely under-dressed in my TOMS; my feet were happy!!)

2.  Don't forget your camera, dumb-ass!
Oy, I was so mad at myself.

3.  Can you say Par-Tay?  Market was one big cocktail party.  I was amazed at the food and drinks provided -- morning, noon, and night!!

4.  Being ever so slightly star-struck, I was pissed I didn't see anyone famous.  Apparently we had just missed Paula Deen at one woman's booth.  :)

Making some broad generalizations, the color themes seemed quite muted overall, with just some hits of brightness in accessories.
The gray-washed wood furniture is still huge, and pink was big but it was much more muted than Pantone's 'honeysuckle.'  In fact, one booth was painted in Ralph Lauren's 'sea pink' (I asked) and it was gorgeous!!  Not a fleshy-hue soft pink, this pink was romantic, yet modern.  They had a bed set up with velvet throw pillows made to match the walls and it was the most restful and calming room!  Perfect for a bedroom.

(hard to get the vibe from this chip off the RL website, but trust, it is stunning!)

My heart was broken as I had to say good bye and walk away from my dream sofa at Dovetail.

(you'd like to see a picture of the awesomeness?  Go back and read #2.....)

Do the names Maxwell Gillingham Ryan, Margot Austin, Brian Patrick Flynn and Tobi Fairly ring any bells?  Stay tuned -- more to come from High Point!

Some Oly goodness in the meantime:
(the people at Oly are really nice, btw!)

  1. Hey, welcome back! So nice to see you here!!!

So the market sounds totally awesome, I'm super jealous, but I'm also upset there are no supersized pics of Paula Deen's teeth. What gives, lady???!
