The Little Mermaid Doesn't Know the Words to 'O Tannenbaum'

Call me a traditionalist, but I do not like this "Christmas Tree."

Again this year, Claridge's hotel in London has turned over the Christmas Tree design reigns to John Galliano.

"For 2010, Galliano has created a truly dazzling design, using the ocean as his muse for his “Under the Sea” Christmas tree. Made of sparkling silver leaves, pink coral, sea horses, fish, anemones, starfish and jelly fish, this whimsical design is truly one of a kind."

I get the whimsy, I get the beauty of this as a sculpture; but not as a Christmas Tree.
Maybe after the holidays they'll ship it  HERE, to this hotel, where it belongs.

Off to Milan!

Well, not really.  Just some more dreamin' going on here at A Dreamer's Den.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to jet off to Milan?  I'd like to stay here, 3Rooms:

Concierge.com has this to say about 3Rooms:

'There can't be many hotels in the world that have catalogs in each room—so you can look up who designed which piece of furniture. But Carla Sozzani, sister of Italian Vogue editor-in-chief Franca, is not just any hotelier.

3Rooms is part of her 10 Corso Como shopping, dining and culture hub, which sprawls across a series of buildings on four sides of a typical, plant-filled Milanese courtyard. The rooms themselves are three private luxury apartments, each with their own separate entrance off the 10 Corso Como courtyard. They look as if they might have come straight out of a history of 20th-century design, and will be best appreciated by those who can spot an Arne Jacobsen armchair at 20 paces. But the mix is far from random: The Verner Panton rugs, Fontana lamps, and Eames bedspreads are matched with a real feel for pattern and color, and the whole thing feels sophisticated and stylish—especially in number 3, the most spot-on suite.
In-room facilities stretch from a complete shoeshine kit to an extensive library of books on art and design to a fax machine.'  -- concierge.com

Ciao for now!

who's in?

It's times like these I wish I was Oprah.  I wish I could fly all of us to NYC for a long weekend and stay in the bad-ass Soho House hotel.  We would eat fantastic food, get spa treatments and lounge by the rooftop pool*.  I'll just keep dreaming, and maybe buy a lotto ticket.

*realizing it's February, this fantasy trip takes place in the summer!

Oh, how I'd love to go. Pack my bags, book a flight, and just go. Wanna come?
