Dot Nothing

Sad news to report tonight:
I have had to close down my website.

The costs to keep my site up and running were more than I could afford; no orders have been coming in for quite awhile now.

Many, many thanks to all who supported and loved pillowmint.net!!
I don't know what the future holds, but I do know my love of all things bedding will never waver.

If you have any bedding needs, I still have limited inventory and will sell it to you for *cheap*.
email me!

xo

p.s.  One of my very favorite companies for many reasons(!) is Blissliving Home.
They have some gorgeous brand new fall items.......

I'm loving this pillow!  You should buy it.  Go to Blissliving Home's website.

last day!

Today is my last day at the shop.
I was "fine" until my husband (who is out of town) sent me a very sweet text, which opened the flood gates. My sweet 11 year old was with me and patted my back.

I'm looking forward to what's next.

when one door closes....

Changing direction!
New opportunities!
Reinvention!
Rolling with the punches.....

"Part of being a winner is knowing when enough is enough. Sometimes you have to give up the fight and walk away, and move on to something that's more productive." -Donald Trump

The lease on my space for Pillow Mint is up April 1.
I did not re-sign.

*However*, I'm not going away entirely.
I am keeping my online store(!) but revamping a bit to keep the winners, get some new things, and let go of the things that didn't move off the shelves.  A couple of the lines I carry will be picked up by another local boutique.  (More on that later).

What from Pillow Mint would you hate to see gone?  Anything you want to see me carry?

This is the exciting part:
in addition to keeping the online store, I will now be offering by-appointment-only, in home consultations.
I will bring my look-books, catalogs, fabric samples, etc. to you - in your own home!
Pillow Mint delivers!

Call me tenacious, stubborn, and certainly a bit prideful for not giving up completely; but I LOVE what I do; I LOVE my bedding companies, and it has always been my mission to spread the joy.

If you live in Charlottesville -- come in now for some great deals.
I will still be taking special orders for the next week or so; after that
I will be coming to YOU!

Sleep well,
Anita

the real thing.

This, my lovelies, will be for sale at
Pillow Mint:

It is coming to me from the very lovely Gulmira Karimova, who is originally from Uzbekistan; currently living and working in West Virginia.  We met when she came into the shop to see if I would like to sell some textiles from Uzbekistan.  She has a small business, "Central Asian Textiles," whereby she brings  suzani and other such embroidered fabrics from her "village" and uses her incredible sewing skills to make things.

She told me these large works of art were/are used in tents as decoration.  Her people are nomadic; they use these pieces to decorate the inside of the tents as they are easily taken down and folded up for traveling.

Gulmira has been working on this bedspread for quite sometime -- she took the unfinished (un-backed) fabric and sewed linen to the back to give it a more substantial feel and make it more like a true bedspread than "just" a piece of fabric.

This piece measures 91' x 86' -- roughly a queen size.

What do you think?

green with an edge

Plover textiles are produced from the best quality 100% organic cotton, making it better for you and your family, for your home, and for the environment.
The organic cotton in Plover's linens comes from non-genetically engineered seeds grown in soil that is of pesticides, herbicides or other cytotoxins - keeping poisons away from those you love and out of the echosystem. We use a hydrogen peroxide bleaching process and only low-impact, fiber reactive dyes.
Plover Organic is designed in the U.S.A. and make in India using Fair Labor.

i've got ya covered

When I was doing preliminary research for the shop, I fell in love with the images on the Denyse Schmidt website.  Her quilts are stunning works of art!
However, it was seeing (and feeling them!) in person that completely won me over.  These quilts are 100% cotton, the perfect "quilt" weight, and so soft.  Out of all the bedding in the store, it is one of these quilts that my son chose to have on his bed!  I don't blame him a bit.

for baby too!!

lullaby and goodnight

We know the holidays are *hectic* and we know that when sleep needs are met, everyone is in a better place.

Dreamland CD by Putumayo is a must-have; the gentle  music truly lulls babies -- and adults -- to sleep.

And to all a
good night......

Blissful

Oh, how I wish you could feel this bedding! (And I wish the computer images did it more justice!!) Blissliving's sheets and duvet covers are among the finest I've seen.  Reasonably priced, and the duvet cover comes as a set -- you get two pillow shams!
I'm in love with the Pia Duvet Set and I matched it up with the Amanda Grey Sheet set.
Good sheets do matter.  :)

The 12 Days.....

TIS THE SEASON!
Since I have a store selling beautiful things by fantastic companies (is that bragging?), I thought I would spend the next 12 days picking some of my favorite items to blog about.  They are all available online through my e-commerce site.  If you happen to be in Charlottesville, VA, come see me!
I'll be all about Pillow Mint for the next 12 days.  Enjoy!

sharing is caring

For the love of family and earth, Satch & Sol partners with fair trade artisan cooperatives worldwide to offer a handmade collection. Satch & Sol strives to be eco-friendly through product selection and business practices.

I just had to share the fact that I just got these adorable slippers in! They are hand made in Mongolia (fair trade, of course) and are the best things ever. Available to you through the website: pillowmint.net

While we're on the subject of the store(!) I have Alora Ambiance Festa in stock. Don't miss out -- these go quickly. If you know Alora, you know this stuff is the bomb. - Right, Katherine?!
